About Bahia Solano

Bahia Solano is a small coastal municipality on Colombia's Pacific shore, in the department of Choco, set between dense rainforest, rivers, beaches and the Gulf of Cupica. Remote, humid and deeply tied to the sea, it serves as a gateway to one of the country's most biodiverse coastal regions.

Because road access is limited, most visitors arrive by air at Jose Celestino Mutis Airport, with connections typically routed through larger Colombian cities. Boats also link nearby coastal settlements, making the town part of a wider Pacific network shaped by tides, weather and local transport rhythms.

The area has long been home to Afro-Colombian and Indigenous communities, whose traditions, fishing practices, music and relationship with the forest give Bahia Solano much of its cultural character.
