Cheongju, the capital of North Chungcheong Province in central South Korea, is a practical and cultured inland city known for its administrative role, universities, museums, and relaxed urban rhythm. Set between Seoul and Daejeon, it combines government, education, industry, and everyday neighborhood life without the scale or rush of the largest Korean cities.

The city is well connected by expressways and intercity buses, with rail access through Cheongju and Osong stations. Cheongju's cultural identity is closely tied to printing history: Heungdeoksa Temple Site is associated with Jikji, the world's oldest extant book printed with movable metal type.
