About Kabalega Falls

Kabalega Falls lies on the Victoria Nile in northwestern Uganda, within Murchison Falls National Park, where the river narrows dramatically before dropping into a powerful gorge. The area is known for its wild landscapes, river views, and close connection to Uganda's largest protected savanna ecosystem.

Access is usually by road from Kampala through Masindi or via northern routes from Gulu, with travel times depending on park gates and road conditions. The nearest air links are small airstrips serving Murchison Falls National Park, while Entebbe International Airport remains the main international gateway.

The falls carry the name of Omukama Kabalega, the Bunyoro king remembered for resisting colonial expansion, giving the site cultural meaning beyond its scenery. Visits often combine the top of the falls, boat trips on the Nile, game drives, and nearby viewpoints where the force of the water is most clearly felt.
