Kalymnos is a Greek island city and municipality in the Dodecanese, set between Kos and Leros in the southeastern Aegean. Its main town, Pothia, spreads around a busy harbor with colorful neoclassical houses, working boats, churches, small shops, and a practical island rhythm shaped by the sea.

The island is reached mainly by ferry, with regular connections to Kos, Leros, Rhodes, and Piraeus, while Kalymnos Island National Airport handles limited domestic flights, usually via Athens. Many visitors also fly to nearby Kos and continue by boat, making the island easy to combine with the wider Dodecanese.

Kalymnos is best known for its sponge-diving heritage, a demanding tradition that brought the island prosperity and a strong maritime identity.
