About Karaman

Karaman lies in south-central Türkiye, on the northern slopes of the Taurus Mountains and close to the wide plains of Central Anatolia. It is a calm, compact city known for its agricultural character, clean urban rhythm and position as a gateway between Konya, Mersin and the Mediterranean hinterland.

The city is connected by road and rail, with regular links to Konya and surrounding districts. Karaman does not have a major commercial airport of its own; the nearest practical option is Konya Airport, from where onward travel is possible by bus, train or car.

Karaman has deep historical roots, especially as the center of the Karamanids, a principality that played an important role in Turkish language and Anatolian culture. Visitors can follow this heritage through Karaman Castle, Hatuniye Madrasa, Aktekke Mosque, the Karaman Museum and nearby sites such as Binbir Church and Manazan Caves.
