About Oulu

Oulu lies on Finland's west coast at the mouth of the Oulujoki River, facing the Gulf of Bothnia. It is a northern city with a practical, youthful character, known for technology, education, winter resilience and an easy closeness to water, islands and forests.

The city is well connected by rail and road to other parts of Finland, with frequent long-distance trains and highway links south toward Helsinki and north toward Lapland.
